Overview
Build Your Lift is a cutting-edge 3D sales configurator that transforms the way customers experience elevator customisation. Built for Aussie Lifts, this interactive web application enables customers to visualise their elevator designs in real-time, selecting from hundreds of material combinations, finishes, and configurations.
The platform bridges the gap between imagination and reality, giving customers unprecedented control over their elevator aesthetics while providing sales teams with a powerful tool to close deals faster. Every customisation is rendered in realistic 3D, ensuring customers know exactly what they're getting before they commit.
Technical Approach
At the heart of Build Your Lift is a custom-built 3D rendering engine powered by Three.js and WebGL. We optimised the geometry pipeline by utilising primitive shapes where possible and modelling complex 3D geometries such as the handrails and operating panels and buttons with Blender. The engine supports physically-based rendering (PBR) materials, giving customers true-to-life representations of metals and woods finishes from the high-pressure laminate Laminex Range.
The configurator is built with React and TypeScript, providing a robust foundation for maintainability and scalability. State management through retained contexts ensures seamless synchronisation between user selections and 3D rendering updates, as well as the ability to generate a request for quote directly from the configurator page.
Features
Choose from over 200 premium materials including stainless steel, powder-coated metals, woods laminates, and even mirrors. With full control, we were able to accurately map material images onto models to ensure correct scale and orientation.
One of Aussie Lifts big sellers is backlit negative space panelling. We used advanced blooming effects to create a realistic preview of different lighting configurations, without negatively impacting performance.
We generated all of the 3D models used in the configurator ourselves, ensure dimensional accuracy and correct relative placement of accessories. By utlising a low-fidelity background scene instead of simply having the model float in space, customers can better visualise how the elevator will look in situ while benefiting from strong spatial context.
Users are able to request a quote directly from the configurator, with all selected options captured and sent to Pipedrive CRM through a custom built integration for seamless follow-up by the Aussie Lifts sales teams.
